Polyurethane Foam is used in numerous marine applications. The high strength to weight ratio plus its excellent buoyancy properties makes it an excellent choice as an integral part of the manufacture of boats, Ice Holds, buoys, docks, and flotation devices.
We have been involved in many projects using our foams for various purposes in the marine industry, ranging from its use as a lightweight closed cell filler in pontoons to insulation in house boats. Due to the closed cell nature of our spray foams, they do not absorb moisture, so will not become waterlogged, even if exposed to water consistently, or submerged.
Similar to its use as an insulation material in container homes, using spray foam on metal surfaces prevents condensation from occurring, which in turn prevents corrosion and mould from causing damage.
